Eurasian Resources Group, a leading diversified natural resources group, is one of the general sponsors of the World Team Chess Championship, which is held in Kazakhstan for the first time ever: http://wteams.astana2019.fide.com/en/index/ Chess players from 14 countries are competing in the Championship, with the final and the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for March 14. The participants of the event represent China, Azerbaijan, Iran, the US, Egypt, Russia, Sweden, the UK, India, Ukraine, Georgia, Hungary, Armenia and Kazakhstan. They include the current world champion and continental champions.

'Chess is currently at the peak of its popularity worldwide,' commented Alexander Machkevitch, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eurasian Resources Group. 'In Kazakhstan, we attach great importance to this sport, and there are chess clubs in many schools across the country. I believe that this is a far-sighted move, as chess helps to develop logical thinking and a strategic vision. This year, ERG celebrates the 25th anniversary of the start of its business in Kazakhstan, and we encourage interest in chess among our employees. This is why we act as a general sponsor of the World Team Chess Championship, which is held in Kazakhstan for the first time.'

Along with the Championship games, ERG has organized simultaneous exhibition games between employees of its enterprises (winners of the so-called enterprise-level Games) and Darmen Sadvakasov, a five-time national champion and winner of multiple international tournaments. This competition featuring ERG's employees will be held on March 13 at the venue of the World Team Chess Championship.
