Eurasian Resources Group (“ERG” or “the Group”), a leading diversified natural resources group headquartered in Luxembourg, has announced a replacement of air filters of the sintering shop at the Group’s Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC. This project is part of the Group’s Air Emissions Strategy, for which ERG is planning to allocate over €224m.

The reconstruction and instalment of electrostatic air filters at Aluminium of Kazakhstan which use automation technology are being implemented by ThyssenKrupp.

The reconstruction of the first two filters, scheduled for this year, is estimated to reduce emissions of particulate matter into the atmosphere by 2,400 tonnes per annum.

Commenting on this important initiative, Serik Shakhazhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of Eurasian Group LLP, which is managing ERG’s assets in Kazakhstan, said:This is the first time this equipment has been used in Kazakhstan, and it represents a very important step towards ensuring safer and more sustainable production.”

He also highlighted that the first two hybrid filters would pave the way for the wider ecological upgrade of the plant.

Committed to further aligning itself to EU air quality standards, the Group is also planning to significantly reduce particulate emissions with filter replacements at its SSGPO, Eurasian Energy Corporation and Kazchrome plants.
