ERG announces the appointment of Mr Shukhrat Ibragimov to its Board of Managers
Eurasian Resources Group (“ERG”) today announces that Mr Shukhrat Ibragimov has been appointed to its Board of Managers with effect from 3 March 2021. Mr Ibragimov will also serve as a member of the Board’s Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and the Sustainable Development and M&A Committee.
Shukhrat Ibragimov replaces his father, Mr Alijan Ibragimov, one of the founders of ERG who sadly passed away this February, on the Board of Managers.
Prior to his appointment to the Board, Shukhrat served as ERG’s Head of Business Development for over six years. He was instrumental in developing and launching some of the Group’s most ambitious international projects, including Metalkol RTR, the world’s second largest standalone producer of cobalt and a major producer of copper, and BAMIN, ERG’s integrated mining and logistics project in Brazil.
Dr Alexander Machkevitch, Chairman of ERG’s Board of Managers, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Shukhrat Ibragimov to the Board. Shukhrat’s impressive expertise in mining and extensive knowledge of ERG’s business, gained through leading some of our key development initiatives, will be invaluable for the Group’s future growth.”
Mr Shukhrat Ibragimov stated: “Having spent a number of years working as part of ERG’s leadership team, I look forward to building on all my experience and my father’s vision for the best benefit of the Group and its diverse range of stakeholders.”
Mr Shukhrat Ibragimov is a non-executive director of Alliance Altyn, one of the largest gold mining projects in Central Asia, and a member of the Board of Directors of both Eurasia Insurance Company, Kazakhstan’s leading insurance organisation, and Eurasian Bank, a socially important financial institution. He also serves as the Vice-President of YABİAD, a foreign investor association focused on forging and promoting links with Turkey’s business community.
Mr Ibragimov is closely involved in a number of charitable initiatives and roles including as the Chair Trustee of “I am part of”, a UK charity focused on providing access to water and hunger relief to people in Africa and Asia. He is also Chairman of the Asian World Film Festival and has supported a wide range of cultural projects across different countries.
Mr Ibragimov is a graduate of the European Business School London and the Beijing Language and Culture University. He is fluent in English, Russian, French and Turkish, and has a working knowledge of Mandarin.
